45mins to an hour a day of cardio is plenty as long as you are keeping a good pace (70% of max). Exercise is great, but if you aren't eating good healthy food you won't reach your goal. When you eat the right food it's next to impossible to eat to much (to many calories) and you never have to feel hungry. Sugar (and all it's high glycemic carbs counterparts, white flour, rice cakes, cereal, white rice...) are all fattening. Not only do these foods get quickly stored as fat, but they make you have cravings for more of them in only an hour or 2 after you eat them. They cause a big release of insulin and it is impossible to burn fat with high levels of circulating insulin (on the contrary, insulin stores sugar as fat). You need to eat low glycemic (enters blood steam slowly and doesn't cause insulin spike) carbs like oatmeal (not the sugar laden instant kind), yams, sweet potatoes, veggies, whole wheat pasta, brown rice, potatoes (but not too much, they are fairly high glycemic carbs). Fruit is an ok carb (apples and grape fruit are great), but not more than 2 pieces a day. Low fat protein like 1% cottage cheese, chicken breasts, tuna, salmon are all great fat burning foods. Good fats are flax seed oil, salmon, peanuts and avocados (not too much though they are 350 calories each). Fiber, good fats and protein all slow down the rate at which carbs enter your system, so it is important to balance all of your meals (and snacks) to lessen the release of insulin. It's getting late, but if you want more info on a scientific approach to lose weight (fat, not muscle because that is the engine that burns fat) e-mail me and I would be happy to help you. Edit: Save your money, acai berrys is a load of crap. If any people see an improvement it is because they tell you to also eat healthy foods. Healthy foods are what puts your body in fat burning mode, not gimmicks like acai berry. Bodybuilders and fittness models all eat healthy foods because they make you ripped. |
