Currently on gestational diabetes diet and confused!?
I have been following this diet very closely, but still finding myself testing higher than they said I should. They told me that an hour after a meal I should be testing 120 130 or below, after a meal I have been testing 140 160. Tonight for dinner I had skinless baked chicken breast, broccoli, and half of a potato, which is less than they told me to have and still tested a 160 Yesterday for lunch a I had a big slice of chicken wing pizza didn't eat the crust and only tested a 115. I don't understand why I am scoring high when I am following their diet so closely, and barely having any carbs. Has anybody else had this problem? Would I need to be put on insulin if I am following their diet and testing over the 130? I am very confused and I feel like the only way I will find out what is setting it off is if I test before and after every meal I eat, which would be 6 times a day and that is not including snacks,my insurance is not covering the testing strips and they would be $115 every 2 weeks if I test 6 times a day, which with a baby on the way is very hard. Any suggestions or advice? I am lost and unsure of what I should eat to keep my numbers down since the food ideas the dietitian nutritionist gave me are raising my numbers, I just want to have a healthy baby.my ob gyn, diabetes dietician and nutritionist all told me to test 1 hour after a meal, which all of my paperwork also states this. Some people are recommended to test 2 hours after, but I am not one of them.I have been told it is good to test before I eat to kind of get an idea of where my blood sugar is before I eat, and to follow my instructions of testing 1 hour later to see how much that number rises after a meal. I have just looked at numerous websites that state that your doctor will instruct you to test 1 hour or 2 hours after a meal....

Was just told have high sugar count and doc put me on some sugar something. Said it was type 2 what ever that means. I am not sure. Company doc and not a lot of time spent and was in sort of a shock. So where do I go for GOOD info?

Just found out that I am hyperinsulinemia. It is what happens prior to becomeing type 2 diabetic. I knew I didn't feel right so I Kept going 2 the doctor and finally she tested my blood and found out that I had way to much insulin in my body, so I am taking a type 2 diabetic medication. I now need to know what I can do to help myself. I have asked many questions and no one really has giving me good answers I will pick best answer on this. So what will help lower my insolin and loose weight? I heard low carbs, what foods can I get in the store that are good and low carbs? How do I make myself better before I am a diabetic for real? I just want to fix this asap. I want to loose 30 pounds as quick as I can and then work on the rest in good time like another 30 in the next 5 months after that but 30 in the next 2 to 3? will this medicin help, what should I be eating now. I know NOTHING about this so as much info is what I REALLY need. Thankyou.
Feeling worse on the gestational diabetes diet?
I was just diagnosed with gestational diabetes. It explains a lot because I've gained weight rapidly without changing my diet, have high levels of amniotic fluid and at 29 weeks my daughter's weight is estimated at 3.9 lbs Since the diagnosis last week, I have been following the diet religiously and have been eating small meals every two hours, cutting out sugar and juices and counting carbs. And I have to say that I feel AWFUL. I feel tired and lethargic and feel hungry all the time, and even feel nauseous at times. I felt MUCH better before I was eating worse carbs, pastas, sugars . Anyone else had this happen? I have an appointment with my doctor in a few days so I'll ask him there but wanted to know if anyone else has experienced something similar. Is my body just adjusting to this new diet? Or is something wrong? Thanks

Diabetes diet confusion?
I dont think i have diabetes, but i want to prevent it, however Im receiving so many different answers from different sources. Im i supposed to avoid carbs? if so, why do some diabetes sites tell me to eat carby foods like bread and beans? Im basically wondering if white rice is bad, would another type of rice be good? beans are ok? they have lots of carbs though. i thought bran was good since it has fiber, but then i read it has carbs?? im so confused, the only food i know for sure is bad is white sugar, please help
